There is more than just pure magic at snowboard film releases.
Warren Miller previewed his newest, mind-blowing, snowboard film, Flow State, at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. Being my first attendence in my history of being, I had no expectations other than one incredibly dynamic snowboarding movie, to which my assumption had quickly been proven true. HOWEVER, little did I know that my ticket had purchased me not one, but three complimentary lift tickets; Welch Village, Granite Peak, and most importantly, Lutsen Mountain. Situated five hours north of the Twin Cities, along the great state of Minnesota’s rustic northern shore, Lutsen Mountain features 4 mountains, a resort, and one of the most beautiful views of Lake Superior that nature can offer.
There is something inexplicable surrounding shared experiences. Glad to have shared this trip with those who I am the closest. Lutsen hosts the longest Gondola in the State of Minnesota. It’s 360˙ boasts views of all 4 mountains, including Lutsen’s 1-mile long terrain park, and a jaw-dropping scenic view of Lake Superior. Sitting inside of the gondola cab heading to Moose Mountain. In the distance, the fire stricket sky connects with the frigid blue waters of Lake Superior as sunset approached the icy winter day.
With the chair operator calling last run, we captured the moment, embraced the view, and wished our farewells to the snowy Minnesota paradise that is the Northern Shore. Overall, Lutsen Mountain boasts the best downhill riding that Minnesota has to offer. Park Jibbers and Air Hogs, stay clear; the park is never open to late season and is usually quite icy. However, if you are looking for speed, free riding, and one of the most breath-taking views in Minnesota, make it to the next Warren Miller premier and I hope you get as lucky as I did this 2012 year.
